Japanese soprano Miho Sakoda has an accurate technique and profound insights into score reading, with a vast repertoire ranging from baroque to verismo. She made her stunning debut at the Fujiwara Opera by the Japan Opera Foundation with the title role of Madama Butterfly in 2019. Since then, she has developed her career as an operatic diva, and during the 2024/25 season, performed the title role in Tosca at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan and the title role in Pia de Tolomei (G. Donizetti) at the Fujiwara Opera. Other recent roles include Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Mimì in La Bohème, Marguerite in Faust, Riccardo in Il trionfo dell’onore (A. Scarlatti), Guardian Angel in Rappresentatione di Anima e Corpo (E. de Cavalieri), Flora in Chopin (G. Orefice), and Lucieta in Il Campiello (E. Wolf-Ferrari).

She made her American debut in 2023 at the Savannah Voice Festival, singing the title role in Madama Butterfly. This appearance in Williamsburg marks her debut in the city.

Following this, she is scheduled to perform Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at the Tokyo opera Next, and will also appear in the world premiere of Mizuchi at Biwako Hall in Japan.

She has also appeared as a soloist at major concert venues in Tokyo such as Suntory Hall and performed Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Her concert repertoire includes Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Fauré’s Requiem, and Mozart’s Mass in C major.

She received her Bachelor of Music from the Tokyo University of the Arts. She completed the advanced course at the Suntory Hall Opera Academy (Executive Faculty: Giuseppe Sabbatini) in 2017. She also won the second prize in the vocal section of the 13th Tokyo Music Competition, and she reached the finals for the vocal categories at the 86th Music Competition of Japan and the 50th Japan-Italy Vocal Concorso.

19年にはサントリーホール オペラ・アカデミー公演「フィガロの結婚」伯爵夫人で出演している。

藤原歌劇団には、19年「蝶々夫人」のタイトルロールで鮮烈なデビューを飾って高評を博し、21年「フィガロの結婚」伯爵夫人で出演。また、ベルカントオペラフェスティバル イン ジャパン2019「貞節の勝利」では ズボン役となるリッカルドを演じ好評を得た。その後「イル・カンピエッロ」のルシエータ役、「コジ・ファン・トゥッテ」フィオルディリージ役、「ファウスト」マルグリート役、「ピーア・デ・トロメイ」タイトルロールで出演し高い評価を得るなど、実力派若手ソプラノとして注目を集めている。

その他、NISSAY OPERA 2021「ラ・ボエーム」（日本語訳詞上演）にはミミ役で出演。23年夏にはアメリカ、ジョージア州にて行われたSavannah Voice Festivalにて「蝶々夫人」のタイトルロールでアメリカデビューを果たし、24年夏には同役で兵庫県立芸術文化センターにおける佐渡裕芸術監督プロデュースオペラに出演し、絶賛された。

ソリストとしては、G.サッバティーニ指揮／「第九」、ロッシーニ「小荘厳ミサ曲」に出演する他、「第九」のソリストとして東京フィルハーモニー交響楽団、東京都交響楽団、名古屋フィルハーモニー交響楽団、神奈川フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、札幌交響楽団と共演するなど各方面で活躍している。また、20年には東京音楽コンクール入賞者として「迫田美帆ソプラノ・リサイタル」を開催。NHK-FM「リサイタル・パッシオ」にも出演するなど、いずれも磨かれたテクニックと深い解釈に裏づけされた、安定したのびやかな歌唱が高く評価されている。
